The Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme is a central government initiative launched under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. It aims to enhance the competitiveness and profitability of individual micro food processing enterprises in India by providing financial, technical, and business support.
The initiative will provide direct assistance through credit-linked subsidies to 200,000 micro food processing units. Additionally, sufficient common infrastructure and institutional frameworks will be established to promote the sector’s growth.

To formalize and strengthen the micro food processing sector, which contributes significantly to the Indian economy, ensuring better income opportunities and promoting entrepreneurship in rural and semi-urban areas.
Benefits of PMFME Scheme :
1.Financial Assistance:
- Credit-linked subsidy of 35% of the eligible project cost with a maximum ceiling of ₹10 lakh per unit.
- 50% subsidy for branding and marketing costs.
2. Technical Support:
- Training on food safety, quality control, and business practices.
- Assistance with technology upgradation and packaging solutions.
3. Infrastructure Development:
- Development of food processing clusters and common processing facilities.
4. Support for ODOP:
- Focus on promoting specific food products in each district under the One District One Product approach.

Eligibility Criteria :
Eligible Entities:
- Individual micro food processing units.
- Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and Cooperatives.
Sector Focus:
- Unorganized food processing units involved in processing, production, and marketing of local food products.
Business Scope:
- Units working with fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, poultry, fisheries, grains, spices, or other locally significant products.
Applicant Age:
- Must be 18 years or above.
Others:
- Must have a valid Aadhaar number.
- Willingness to formalize the business and adopt modern techniques.
Application Process :
Online Application:

- Register as an individual enterprise, SHG, FPO, or cooperative.
Fill Personal and Detail:
- Applicant has to login and should fill the DetailedProject Report (DPR).
Upload Documents:
- Aadhaar card, PAN card, bank account details, and proof of business.
- After uploading the documents applicant must have Mark the declaration box and final click on the submit button
Approval Process:
- The submitted application is reviewed by district-level committees.
- Upon approval, the subsidy is credited to the applicant’s account.
